FAQS

Do I need boxing experience?

No experience is required; the overwhelming majority of clients have never boxed or had any formalised boxing training before coming to the gym. Remember even the boxing greats were like you once; we all have to begin somewhere!

Do I need to be fit?

All of us have a degree of fitness, some more than others but we all have to make a start to improve on what is already there. We’ll assess your fitness so we know what that start point is and then move forward together to achieve greater fitness.

Won’t I find the gym intimidating?

A resounding no! I’ve worked very hard on creating an environment which is safe, friendly and fun to train. If you’re a bully you need to find somewhere else to train. All my clients are encouraged to speak up and ask questions, never be afraid to ask, I’m here to help encourage and inform not to ridicule.

Will I have to spar or box somebody?

No, all the training is non contact and designed to bring you to a boxer’s fitness without being hit!

Could I do some contact boxing too?

This is something which as people evolve in their training does come up. I always talk to each client based on them being the person to bring the subject up, as I have no wish to make anyone feel obliged to do contact boxing. It is then we have a discussion about its merits. Until such conversation all boxing is non contact.

Will I loose weight and tone up?

The short answer is yes, so what’s the catch? You have to commit to your training, there is no magic wand. My promise is if you commit to your training, I’ll make sure you achieve the result.

What kit and equipment do I need?

Kit to be non restrictive yet comfortable to train in, so standard gym kit is fine. If you want to get more boxing oriented kit like boots for example that’s great but you don’t need to on day one! Equipment wise, gloves and wraps are provided along with other training aids to ensure and overall experience is catered for. Again you can invest in your own gloves for example once your training is pushing on!

What sort of people do you train?

I train a cross section of different people all of whom have found boxing training with me to be of benefit to them. From professional sportsmen and women, including boxers of course, to the fitness enthusiast or the people who just want to be inspired to get fit again and enjoy going to the gym for what is still the best workout you can get!
